Mohun Bagan came back strongly after conceding an early goal to get past Mohammedan Athletic Club 3-1 in a Kolkata Super Division football league match on Tuesday.
Asim Biswas, Jerri Jirsanga and Sunil Chhetri were the scorers for the winners after Ari Benjamin put Mohammedan AC ahead in the 17th minute.
Following an Abu Bakr pass, Benjamin latched on to the ball on top of the box before shooting home much to the dismay of the supporters of the fancied club.
But Bagan drew parity a minute from the half-time whistle, when Biswas unleashed a powerful header from a Noel Wilson centre to find the target, the ball going over the head of rival custodian Raj Narain Mukherjee.
Bagan, who were the better team, took the lead in the 67th minute through Tata Football Academy recruit Jirsanga. A long free-kick from Wilson saw Jirsanga, who came in as a substitute, let loose a rasping right footed volley which crashed into the goal.
Wilson had a good outing and played vital roles in each of the three goals scored by his side.
The green and maroon brigade increased the margin five minutes from time when Chhetri got another incisive pass from Wilson, foxed an opposing defender with a deft half turn and shot into the goal.
Bagan took their points tally to six from two matches, while Mohammedan AC are on one from four exchanges.
