Manchester United have signed 16-year-old Parma forward Giuseppe Rossi, the premier league club said.
Rossi, who was born in the United States, has featured for Italy's under-19 side.
Manchester United's web site gave no details on his contract or the amount of compensation Parma could be paid.
Parma are under pressure to sell players after the collapse of parent company Parmalat.
Rossi is the second young player to arrive at Old Trafford this month after 17-year-old Spanish defender Gerard Pique joined from Barcelona.
