Promising youngster Karan Rastogi [ Images ] kept the Indian flag flying high by booking a semi-final berth at the Australian Open [ Images ] junior tennis championships in Melbourne [ Images ].

The fourth seeded Karan defeated Italy's [ Images ] Fabio Fognini 6-1, 7-5 in the quarter-finals.

Karan will now meet eighth seed Gael Monfils of France [ Images ] in the round of four. Monfils beat 13th seed American Scoville Jenkins 6-4, 6-1 in the quarters.

 The 16-year-old Rastogi had defeated Chinese Taipei's Chu-Huan Yi in the third round.
