Dudu Omagbemi capitalised on a defensive lapse and helped Haywards Sporting Club upset Salgaocar 1-0 in a Goan derby in the National Football League in Margao, Goa, on Friday.

The all-important goal was scored in the 17th minute when Salgaocar defender Bello Rasaq fumbled in clearing the ball from the danger zone. Dudu snatched the ball, and took a few strides before despatching the ball into the net.

Player of the year Tomba Singh, who replaced Gurjinder Singh in the second half, played his second match after returning from the injury he suffered against East Bengal. The wily medio gave more thrust to their attacks as Salgaocar desperately looked for the equaliser. But luck was not in Salgaocar's favour today as the woodwork denied them a goal more than once, nullifying the shots taken by Rasaq, Fredy Fernandes, Felix Ibrebru and Prashant Jaggi.
