Tollygunge Agragami wasted clear chances as they played a goalless draw against Vasco in a lacklustre match of the 8th National Football League at the Nehru stadium, in Margao, Goa, on Thursday.
Vasco, who drew their sixth match, have nine points from eight matches while Tollygunge have seven points also from eight matches.
The first-half was mainly confined to the midfield and Vasco played a dominant role upfront but failed to punch holes in the rival defence as their final passes went astray.
Vasco made the first move in fourth minute but Denis Cabral's shot was tipped over by goalkeeper Bannerjee.
Later, Sushant Mathew's goalbound shot deflected off Amaechi and nearly went into the goal bit the ball was cleared by a rival defender.
Tollygunge, who played cautiously in the first half, came up with counter moves and nearly fetched a goal but Akeem Abolonle made a mess of a chance with an open goal in front of him as he drove the ball out.
The change of ends saw Vasco finding the net in the 48th minute through Amaechi, who was suprisingly ruled off side by referee Shaji Kurian.
Thereafter, play was confined to midfield for a brief period with Tollygunge doing more of the attacking.
The Kolkata outfit had two clear chances to score but Akeem and Amit Das were found wanting after penetrating the defence.
Vasco came back into their own in the dying minutes but Amaechi and Agnelo Gomes failed to find the target from close.
