Jerose Oliveira's 75th minute strike ensured Haywards 2000 Sporting Club full points as they beat Tollygunge Agragami by a solitary goal in the National Football League match at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, at Margao on Sunday.
Haywards, who created several scoring chances, scored the all important goal in the 75th minute through Oliveira who on the half turn let go a shot that beat keeper Chinmoy Banerjee and found the far corner of the net off a pass from Avinash Thapa.
Haywards dominated the match and could have won by bigger margin had their upfront utilised the several scoring chances.
Dudu Omagbemi missed atleast three clear chances while Francis Andrade was unlucky in the second half when his shot from inside the box was saved by defender Kabijit Khotel on the goal line.
Tollygunge, who played a defensive game, came off with counter moves and had a chance in the 35th minute to score but Amit Das failed to direct his shot on target off a pass from Keneth Onu.
Haywards, who scored their third win, now have 11 points from seven matches while Tollygunge have six points from as many matches.
Referee M K Roy showed yellow cards to Haywards' Dennis George, Dudu Omagbemi and Tollygunge's Ebi Bar Bar, Sandip Das and Jiten Rai.
