With a view to give back something for the needy people, film stars and models will represent different NGOs during the Standard Chartered Mumbai International Marathon to be held at Mumbai on February 15.
GiveIndia's brand ambassador and former Bollywood actress, Tanuja, told reporters at Mumbai on Friday that GiveIndia has catalysed a lot of support for the event and believes strongly that people ought to give back to the communities they live in.
Film star Rahul Bose, who is running for the Spastics Society of India, said "I am running just for fun and I think we should appreciate the efforts put in by various NGOs to take this opportunity to raise funds to help the cause of the needy people".
Another prominent Hindi film star Jackie Shroff and his son Tiger along with Moshe Shek, Pratichee Mohapatra, model John Abraham and Mandira Bedi are running for National Association for the Blind, an organisation that serves the cause of the visually challenged.
Director Farhan Akhtar and actors Dino Morea and Tanisha are running for 'Dream A Dream', an NGO based in Bangalore that works with vulnerable children, including those with HIV, on their overall personal development and growth.
Former Mumbai Sheriff Bakul Patel, will lead a team to run for Impact India Foundation to promote work for the rural disabled. Some of the runners for Impact India include children from Holy Name High School, Anjuman Islam School and HPT Girls High School.
