Unseeded Australian Alicia Molik bundled eighth seeded Japanese Ai Sugiyama out of the women's singles event 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted just 10 minutes over an hour.
The Aussie had seven break points in the match and converted one in each set, but Sugiyama failed to put any corresponding pressure on Molik's serve, getting not one break point in either set.
Molik broke through in the fourth game of the first set and the third game of the second and the rest of the match went with serve.
