World snooker champion Pankaj Advani stormed into the pre-quarter-finals in the World under-21 snooker championship, beating Jessada Posukarn of Thailand 5-0, in Carlow, Ireland, on Tuesday.
The Indian ace won 56-55, 59-9, 83-37, 84-13, 57-47 and will meet top seed Gary Wilson of England.
Wilson got the better of Mark Owens of Scotland 109-85, 86-70, 63-43, 85-65, 118-117 in another last 32 match.
Another Indian, Aditya Mehta, who made it to the round of 32 by finishing fourth in Group F with a 7-4 win-loss record, after a 67-2, 52-48, 83-8, 70-35 win over David Little of Northern Ireland, beat eighth seed Mark Allen of Northern Ireland 5-4 to also make it to the last eight stage.
Sourav Kothari failed to make it to the round of 32 despite beating Gary Singh of Scotland 63-70, 42-61, 53-33, 66-30, 69-56, 33-68, 71-15. He finished fifth in his group with a 7-3 win-loss record.
