Advani's winning run ends

World champion Pankaj Advani's wining run in the World Under-21 snooker championship came to an end when he was beaten by China's Tiang Pengfei in the last league match of Group D at Carlow, Ireland, on Monday.

The Indian, who lost 36-62, 39-70, 73-14, 47-73, 109-0, 0-81, suffered his first defeat in eight matches and finished second in the group behind Pengfei, who won all his seven matches in the group.

Both players made it to the round of 32 players.

Aditya Mehta and Sourav Kothari are the other Indians in the fray.

While Mehta beat David Little of Ireland 67-2, 52-48, 83-3, 70-35 to post his fourth victory in six matches in Group F and stay in contention for a berth in the last 32, Kothari beat Ole Van Ham of the Netherlands 91-17, 64-38, 92-9, 49-7, 80-20 to notch his second win in six matches in Group E.
