The seventh seeded Indo-Czech pair lost to third seeds Jonas Bjorkman [ Images ] of Sweden and Todd Woodbridge of Australia [ Images ] 7-5, 2-6, 3-6.

Mahesh Bhupathi [ Images ] and Max Mirnyi [ Images ] had bowed out of the tournament after losing 6-7(3/7), 5-7 Arnaud Clement [ Images ] and Sebastian Grosjean of France [ Images ] in the second round.
