Following the recommendations of its disciplinary committee, the Goa Football Association imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Churchill Brothers football team president Churchill Alemao and suspended him from all football related activity till the end of the Videocon Professional League.

The disciplinary committee, headed by Eustaquio Pereira, also fined the team Rs 5,000 and recommended disciplinary action on two of its players, Denzil Ferrao and Reagan Alemao, GFA secretary Savio Messias said.

While Ferrao was suspended for the next eight matches and fined Rs 5,000 for assaulting the referee, Regan was slapped a four-match suspension and a fine of Rs 5,000 for manhandling the referee.

Churchill Brothers secretary and team manager Ciabro Alemao was cautioned for misbehaving with supervising officials.

However, no action was taken against three others -- Cruz Ferrao (official), Osumanu Hussein (defender) and Noel Wilson (captain) -- who were issued a show cause notice.

After the Dempo-Churchill match on September 17 at the Nehru stadium, in Fatorda, Goa, referee Joao Pereira and assistant referee Benjamin D'Silva alleged in their report to match commissioner Romeo Pires that players and officials of Churchill Brothers Sports Club assaulted them, Messias added.

GFA's disciplinary committee, on September 19, issued show cause notices to those named in the referees' report after discussing the cases during the last two days gave their final verdict, Messias said.

Meanwhile, the GFA, in a statement said: "The fines are the maximum as provided under the GFA constitution. The suspensions count for only those matches which are actually played by Churchill Brothers."

The Churchill Brothers team management, in retaliation to the suspension order, pulled out the team from the on-going Videocon GFA Professional League.

The team, which also did not play Salgaocar on September 2, was fined Rs 500 and Salgaocar were awarded three points and three goals.

The GFA also directed the referees' sub-committee, headed by Anthony John D'Costa, to interrogate all match officials involved in the match, examine their performance and submit a report to the executive committee within a week.
