Harsh Mankad advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Tennis Championship in Tashkent with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3 victory over Korean Seung Hoon Oh on Thursday.
Mankad, the fifth seed, now faces home favourite Vadim Kutsenko in the last-eight clash.
In the doubles, Sunil Kumar Sipaeya of India and Anton Kokurin of Uzbekistan went down to top seeds Alexey KedrioukĀ of Kazakhstan and Aisam Quereshi of Pakistan 6-7 (5-7), 3-6.
The Indian women made their exit from the doubles too on Thursday, after having lost in the singles in the first round on Tuesday.
Second-seeded duo Chin Bee Khoo of Malaysia and Napaporn Thongsalee of Thailand defeated Ankita Bhambri and Po-Kuen Lam of Hong Kong 6-2, 6-0.
Third seeds Chia-Jung Chuang and Chin-Wei Chan of Chinese Taipei put paid to the hopes of the other Indian pair, Isha Lakhani and Megha Vakharia, 6-0, 6-1.
