Seventh seed Sonal Phadke was fired out by compatriot Samrita Sekar even as top seed Suchanan Viratprasert of Thailand and second seed Chin Bee Khoo of Malaysia entered the quarter-finals in the Indian oil Servo $10,000 ITF tournament in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Fifth Seed Isha Lakshmi of India, third seed Rushmi Chakravarthi, qualifier Punam Reddy, fourth seed Megha Vakharia and sixth seed Sai Jayalakshmi also entered the last eight stage.
In a 144-minute battle, Samrita overcame a first set deficit to beat Phadke 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Third seed Rushmi Chakravarthi beat Ankita Bhambri 6-3, 2-6, 6-0, while Punam Reddy defeated Murugaboopathy 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) and fourth seed Megha Vakharia pipped P-Kuen Lam of Hong Kong 6-2, 6-2.
In the doubles event, top seed Rushmi Chakravarthi and Sai Jayalakshmi entered the semi-finals, thrashing Sheetal Goutham of India and Po Kuen Lam (Hong Kong) 6-4, 6-2.
Fourth seed Suchanan Viratprasert of Thailand, partnering with Geeta Manohar of India, defeated Sandhya and Madhura Ranganathan 6-3, 6-2, while third seed Shruti Dhawan and Sonal Phadke knocked out qualifiers Krushmi Chheda and Punam Reddy 6-2, 6-1.
Second seed ChinBee Khoo of Malaysia and Megha Vakharia of India completed the line up when the knocked out Ankita Bhambri and Isha Lakhani 6-3, 7-5.
