The dream run of national champion Abhinn Shyam Gupta came to a tame end when he went down to Jang Young Soo of Korea in the pre-quarter-finals of the German Open Badminton tournament.
Gupta, who pulled off an upset by defeating 13th seed Roslin M Hashim of Malaysia in the first round, came a cropper against the Korean qualifier, losing in straight games 8-15, 5-15 late Thursday night, to bring an end to the Indian challenge in the event.
The Allahabad lad had outplayed Denmark's Kasper Oedum 15-6, 15-6 in the second round.
