India's Nikhil Kanetkar won his maiden international title when he defeated Andreas Wolk of Germany to win the Volant d'or Toulouse Open Badminton tournament at Cahors in Southern France.
Kanetkar thrashed the German 15-9, 15-11 in just 29 minutes to lift the Grade 'A' title on Sunday.
It was an easy outing for the southpaw after a tiring semi-final against Canada's Andrew Dabeka.
After trading a game each, the Indian faced two match-points against Dabeka in the decider but managed to keep his cool and take the match with a 10-15, 15-9, 17-14 victory.
The other Indian entrant, Chetan Anand, bowed out in the second round, to local boy Ervin Kehlhoffner 11-15, 15-4, 14-17.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal and Anand Pawar gave the Indians something more to cheer about at the weekend when they won the titles in the girls and boys' section respectively in the Czech International Junior 'B' Badminton Championship.
Pawar drubbed Adam Cwalina of Poland 15-1, 15-3 while Nehwal had no problems in overpowering Yana Vorotnykova of Ukraine 11-3, 11-6.
