Sri Lanka sprint queen Susanthika Jayasinghe was hospitalised for dehydration and stomach pain after returning from Hyderabad, where she participated in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix circuit.

Sri Lanka's Sports Medicine Institute chief Geethanjana Mendis said Jayasinghe's illness is not serious and there is no reason to panic.

"We treated her for dehydration and gastroenteritis. She is being kept under observation," Mendis said, adding the athlete will run in the second leg of the Grand Prix circuit in Colombo on June 1.

Jayasinghe, the Sydney Olympic 200-metre bronze medallist, won the 100 metres in Hyderabad, setting a meet record, with a time of 11.30 seconds on Wednesday.
