Second seed Sania Mirza [ Images ] of India [ Images ] entered the pre-quarter-finals of the ITF Grade 1 tournament at the Astrid Bowl, Belgium, on Tuesday.

The Hyderabad lass defeated Sarah Raab of Germany [ Images ] 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 in a tough second round match to earn a meeting with Marta Domachowska of Poland in the pre-quarter-final round. Sania had bye in the first round.

She had admitted that clay was not her best surface.

Marta defeated Alexandra Karavaeva of Russia [ Images ] 6-1, 6-1 in her second round match.

On Wednesday, Sanaa Bhambri will face top seed Ryoko Fuda of Japan [ Images ] in the second round match.

There is no news on the doubles draw yet, where the Indians will be in action again.
