India's Somdev Dev Verman has been accepted into the singles main draw of the French Open junior tennis championships.
The 18-year-old, ranked 49th in the junior list, will be the second Indian to play the Grand Slam junior event in Paris following Sania Mirza's wild card entry in the girls' section.
This year, the Chennai-based lad won two ITF junior tournaments, in Chandigarh and Delhi, and was a semi-finalist in the Malaysian Junior championships. He also won three doubles titles, partnering Karan Rastogi, which included the Shuzo Challenge Japan Open, Amata Cup Thailand International and an Indian ITF tournament in Delhi.
Karan Rastogi, ranked 63, and Sanaa Bhambri, 53, had earlier earned wild cards into the qualifying rounds of the boys and girls' section respectively.
