Sixth seed Ankita Bhambri overcame energy-sapping conditions to cruise into the final in the second leg of the $5,000 ITF women's tennis tournament in Delhi on Friday.
She beat Shruti Dhawan 6-1, 6-1, and will clash with Liza Pereira, who played near-perfect tennis to end Archana Venkataraman's fine run in the competition earlier in the day.
Both the semi-finals at the DLTA courts were one-sided affairs as Liza also won comfortably at 6-4, 6-4.
Bhambri, who has had a fine outing in the tournament so far, having caused a minor upset by defeating fourth seeded Isha Lakhani on Thursday, faced little opposition from Shruti in the second semi-final.
Similarly, Pereira had no difficulty in brushing aside the challenge of Venkataraman, who played much below her potential and crashed out after a good showing in the early part of the tournament.
Pereira is in line for a grand double. Late in the day, she combined with Isha Lakhani to overcome stiff resistance from compatriots Preeti Rao and Iciri Rai to emerge victorious 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the final of the doubles event.
