After a dismal year with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan, star striker Baichung Bhutia is still undecided about his next club assignment, hoping to join a top Singapore side on his terms and conditions.
"I have not decided which club to join. But talks with a Singapore side are still on. I expect to come to a decision about that in the next two-three weeks," the nimble-footed striker said on Thursday.
Claiming to have fully recovered from the injuries that dogged him right through the season, Bhutia said he is ready for a foreign assignment "if the club agrees to my terms and conditions".
The former captain of the Indian team said he is looking for a three-month contract with a foreign club, as he thinks it will be beneficial for both him and the club.
"But I have no problem if I have to sign a contract for a longer period. But if it does not work, I will play in India... anywhere in the country," he added.
He refused to be drawn into controversy when asked to comment about the reported statement of an East Bengal club official that he is "not fit for our club at this stage".
Bhutia, the first Indian to turn out in the English professional league, when he had a three-year stint with second division club Bury FC, returned to Indian club football last year, donning the jersey of Mohun Bagan, but failed to come up to expectations due to repeated injuries.
Asked to comment about the National Football League, he said the number of clubs should be increased and the period of the league extended.
