Sumit Prakash Gupta and Rupesh Roy enabled India take an unassailable 2-0 lead against Uzbekistan to top Group IV in the Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup tennis tournament at the Gelora Senayan stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In the first stage round-robin matches in the group, second seeds India drubbed eigth seeds, with Gupta beating Vaja Uzakov 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Roy thrashing Akmal Sharipov 6-1, 6-3.
India now plays the second-placed team in Group I, China Hong Kong, in the knock-out phase.
A victory against Hong Kong will ensure India's place in the World Group finals, which features the top 16 nations.
Earlier, India won their opening tie against Pakistan 3-0 on Wednesday.
Rupesh Roy beat Aftab Anwar 6-1, 6-1 and Sanam K. Singh beat Shahrukh Khan Niazi with a 6-3, 6-2.
In the doubles, Sumit Prakash Gupta and Rupesh Roy beat Aftab Anwar and Tanvir Ashiq 6-0, 6-0.
