World number one Lleyton Hewitt suffered his first Stella Artois defeat in four years on Friday, falling in the quarter-finals to Sebastien Grosjean 6-3, 6-4.
The Australian had been gunning for an unprecedented fourth straight title on the Queen's Club grass courts but instead suffered his first loss here since 1999.
Back then grasscourt maestro Pete Sampras had beaten him. This time it was a French baseliner more comfortable on hard courts and clay courts than turf.
Hewitt was simply outfought by the sixth seed who moved into the semi-finals in 88 minutes.
