Mohun Bagan dazzled in the second-half to breeze past Kolkata Port Trust 3-0 in a Kolkata Super Division football league match in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Bagan, who lost to arch-rivals East Bengal by the same margin in their previous match, overcame a stiff challenge from Port Trust in the first-half, and put up a highly imporved performance after the breather, to take home full points.
Young striker Asim Biswas scored twice, before Brazilian Jose Ramirez Barreto chipped in with another to ensure Bagan their third victory in four matches.
The victory took Bagan's tally to nine points.
Playing on home ground, Bagan went into the lead in the 42nd minute when the redoubtable Barreto fed an unmarked compatriot Marcos Pereira, who essayed a fine centre into the box for Biswas to shoot home.
Ahead 1-0 at the breather, Bagan increased their tally in the 78th minute. Biswas ran a solo and then let loose a power-packed left-footer which found the net.
The scoreline became 3-0 four minutes later from a combined move initiated by skipper Rennedy Singh. Barreto passed the ball again to Rennedy, who floated it into the box and the Brazilian, who had quickly taken his position near the goalmouth, headed in.
