Sania, Sanaa have mixed luck

Sania Mirza and Sanaa Bhambri had mixed fortunes in the girls' mixed doubles at Wimbledon on Thursday.

While Mirza progressed to the second round, Bhambri fell at the first hurdle.

Sania, partnering Alisa Kleybanova of Russia, scored an upset victory over top seeds Slovakian Jarmila Gajdosova and Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic, winning 7-6 (9/7), 6-4 while Bhambri and Lara Giltinan of Australia lost to Casey Dellacqua and Adriana Szili 1-6, 4-6.

Kleybanova and Mirza will now face Emma Laine of Finland and Nadja Pavic of Crotia in the quarter-finals.

Anand and Vijay Amritraj also tasted defeat. They lost 3-6, 2-6 to third seeds Peter McNamara and Paul McNamee of Australia in the over-45 men's doubles.

In the boys' doubles, Somdev Dev Varman and Karan Rastogi of India lost to Andrew Murray and Tom Rushby of Great Britain 0-6, 5-7.
