Displaying superiority in all departments of the game, favourites East Bengal overwhelmed Indian Telephone Industries 3-1 in a National Football League match in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Shasty Duley put East Bengal in the lead in the 17th minute after intercepting a lob from Alvito D'Cunha. Even as ITI custodian Balaji came forward to grasp the ball, Duley deceived him and tapped it into the net.
East Bengal's agile forward Suley Musah increased the tally when he fired in a goal after a solo effort in the 35th minute.
Musah, who took control of a pass from D'Cunha, gave no chance to the ITI defenders as his shot landed in the net.
However, ITI managed to pull one back through their Ghanian import Ibrahim Karim Alhasan in the 60th minute.
Though ITI made a couple of good attempts later, they could not convert those.
But the Kolkata outfit consolidated their position when striker Mike Okoro scored the third goal in the 83rd minute in a solo effort.
With the victory, East Bengal increased their points tally to 24 from ten engagements while ITI have only three points.
