Central Reserve Police Force lifted the 21st DCM Shriram hockey cup, defeating Punjab and Sind Bank 2-0 in a one-sided final in Kota on Saturday.
Jolen Topno was CRPF's hero. He put his side into the lead in the 28th minute with a brilliant goal and played a stellar role in the victory.
Punjab and Sind bank were neither able to pierce through the defences of CRPF nor counter the onslaught of the armymen.
CRPF dominated the match throughout, and a penalty-stroke conversion in the 45th minute by Mukesh Kumar sealed the fate of Punjab and Sind Bank.
Although both teams were awarded three penalty-corners each, Punjab and Sind Bank were unable to convert any.
This is the second time that CRPF have lifted the trophy, the first being in 1983.
They pocketed a cash prize of Rs 40,000, while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 25,000.
