Salgaocar Sports Club, Goa, returned to winning ways as they whipped local favourite Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club 3-0 in the Oil PSU National Football League at Bangalore Sunday.
Firmly putting behind their indifferent performance in the last three encounters that saw them settle for two draws and concede a defeat, the Goan side gave a superlative show to outplay their opponents.
The former champions now have 27 points, while relegation blues continue to haunt HASC, who have just seven points.
Climax Lawrence put the Goan side ahead in the sixth minute, finding the target off a spot kick.
The visitors, who functioned like a well-oiled machine in sharp contrast to HASC who lacked cohesion, then made it 2-0, as Sunday Seah headed home off a pass from Jatin Bist in the 19th minute.
In the 40th minute, Dharmajit Singh came up with gem of a goal, as Salgaocar totally dominated the first half, in which they pumped three goals.
After the breather, the home team did try to take the battle to their opponent but poor finishing let them down.
Raja Baliev Nurlan messed up a good opportunity from close range and minutes later, HASC were unlucky again as Jagdish Kumar's powerful shot hit the bar.
