Megha Vakaria's successful run in the Reliance-ITF women's tournament came to a halt on Saturday. She was beaten 4-6, 4-6 by Korea's Da-Jung Hong in the final, in Bangalore.
The 18-year-old Megha, who was unseeded in the tournament, failed to reproduce the form she displayed in the earlier rounds and was simply outplayed by the fourth seed.
However, the Indian camp had some consolation as Rushmi Chakravarti and Sai Jayalakshmy lifted the doubles crown, quelling the challenge of the Japanese-Belarussian duo of Maki Arai and Natalia Dziamidzenka.
They won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2).
