Leander Paes [ Images ] defeated Japan's Gouchi Motomura 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in one hour 37 minutes in the dead fifth rubber after Rohan Bopanna [ Images ] had given India a winning 3-1 lead earlier in the morning.

Bopanna defeated Jun Kato 7-6 (7/5), 6-4, 6-4 in one hour 54 minutes for his first win in Davis Cup.

India will take on New Zealand [ Images ] at home in the next round from April 4 to 6.
