A golden goal by K P Udaya Kumar gave Karnataka a 1-0 victory over Goa in the final of the 39th Junior National Football championship in Thrissur, Kerala, on Sunday night.
The victory earned Karnataka the Dr B C Roy Trophy, the symbol of supremacy in football at the junior level.
Karnataka, who had defeated holders Punjab 2-0 in the semi-finals, scored in the ninth minute of extra-time. Ninety minutes of regulation time ended goalless.
Goa had defeated Uttar Pradesh by a golden goal in the semi-finals.
Marcus Peixoto of Goa was named the player of the match.
Another Goa player, Sachin Gauns was declared the player of the tournament.
