Mongia is OK Dinghy world champ

Nitin Mongia was crowned world champion in a single-handed sailboat in the OK Dinghy World Championships in Panaji in April. The Mumbai ace made sure of the title despite finishing third in the sixth race.

Mongia won the first five races. Ben Morrision of New Zealand took second place while another Kiwi Rob Coutts was third.

Mongia was a silver medallist in the OK Dinghy Asian Games 2002. He is now in the midst of campaigning in a star class boat along with Mahesh Ramachandran with an eye on the 2004 Olympics.
