Indian double's specialists Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes recorded contrasting victories to move into the quarter-finals of the men's doubles event at the Canada Masters being played in Montreal.
The top seeded pair of Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus defeated Frantisek Cermak and Leos Freidl of Czech Republic 7-6, 6-4 while fifth seed Paes and David Rikl moved to the next round after Frank Dancevic and Simon Larose of Canada forfeited the match when they were trailing 1-4 in the first set on Thursday.
Bhupathi and Mirnyi now play eighth seeds Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley of Australia who defeated Tomas Cibulec and Pavel Vizner of Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5 while Paes and Rikl will take on second seeded American pair of Bob and Mike Bryan to reach the last four.
Bhupathi and Paes are in the separate half of the draw and may face each other in the final.
