Indian double's specialists Mahesh Bhupathi [ Images ] and Leander Paes [ Images ] recorded contrasting victories to move into the quarter-finals of the men's doubles event at the Canada [ Images ] Masters being played in Montreal.
The top seeded pair of Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi [ Images ] of Belarus defeated Frantisek Cermak and Leos Freidl of Czech Republic 7-6, 6-4 while fifth seed Paes and David Rikl moved to the next round after Frank Dancevic [ Images ] and Simon Larose of Canada forfeited the match when they were trailing 1-4 in the first set on Thursday.
Bhupathi and Mirnyi now play eighth seeds Wayne Arthurs and Paul Hanley [ Images ] of Australia [ Images ] who defeated Tomas Cibulec and Pavel Vizner of Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5 while Paes and Rikl will take on second seeded American pair of Bob and Mike Bryan [ Images ] to reach the last four.
Bhupathi and Paes are in the separate half of the draw and may face each other in the final.
