Megha Vakharia's winning run in the $10,000 ITF women's tournament in Harrisonburg, US, came to a tragic end on Sunday as she damaged the ligament of her right thumb and lost in the final.
Playing with a taped hand, the 18-year-old Indian Fed Cup player went down to Shikha Uberoi of the United States 1-6, 1-6.
For her efforts, Vakharia got four WTA points.
Vakharia had earlier beaten Tomoya Takagishi of Japan in the semi-finals in a tough three setter.
