India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi of Belarus moved into second round in the $556,000 ATP Tour tournament in Estoril, Portugal, with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) victory over Spaniards Lopez Moron and David Sanchez on Wednesday.
The Indo-Belarussian pair, who won the US Open doubles crown last year, are the top seeds at the event.
Bhupathi, who began the season with Joshua Eagle of Australia, joined forces with Mirnyi again after the partnership with Eagle brought him little success.
Bhupathi has been going through a lean patch this year and has failed to win a single title thus far, a complete contrast to his successful 2002 season when he won five events with different partners.
