Tollygunge shock Mahindra United

Akeem Abulalem scored a minute from the final whistle to give Tollygunge Aggragami a 1-0 victory over Mahindra United in a Tata National Football League match in Kolkata on Monday.

After muffing up chances galore, the Kolkata side struck a minute from close through their Nigerian striker, who had scored a hat-trick in their previous match against Hindustan Aeronautics.

Abulalem shot home after playing wall with compatriot Adeola Adeyeri. The Mahindra defenders were nowhere in sight and onrushing custodian Virendra Singh helplessly watched the ball roll into the net.

Mahindra have 23 23 points.

The visitors, who went down 1-2 to East Bengal last Thursday, seemed to have fallen on bad times at this crucial juncture of the league, as nothing went right for them at the Salt Lake stadium on Monday.

Defending with their back to the wall for almost the entire duration of the 90-minute exchange, Mahindra looked in total disarray, managing a close look at the rival goal only once, towards the close of the opening half, when Raman Vijayan's push into a vacant goal was saved by Tollygunge stopper Satish Bharti on the goal line.
