HAL maintains winning streak

Maintaining their winning spree, giant killers Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore, beat JCT, Phagwara 1-0 in the fifth round of National Football League at Guru Nanak Stadium on Wednesday.

In an action-packed encounter, deubutants HAL who had shocked Kolkata's Mohun Bagan 3-1 and Goa's Salgaocar 2-1 in their earlier matches shot into the lead in the very 8th minute of the match when Dayananda, off a neat pass from Sunil from the right corner, found the target.

Down by the goal, JCT went all out for the equaliser with their players storming the rival cital time and again but HAL goalkeeper Gump Rime who had yet another excellent match under the bar today proved to be the main stumbling block bringing off several beauttiful saves.

He was instrumental in saving half a dozen powerful sitters including from Daljit, Hardip, Rampal and Hardip Saini.

With today's win, HAL took their points tally to an impressive 11 from five matches - three wins and two draws while JCT have only two points.
