Abhinav Bindra : The experience was very good and i was very happy to win the first gold for India

Indian : HI Abhinav, Congrats on your sucsess. Tell me what inspired you to take up the sport in the country where only cricket is worshipped?
Abhinav Bindra : Well, I always liked this sport and it was not difficult for me to take it up. Then when i saw i was good at it there was no looking back

aSHISH : sO WHATS NEXT ON THE AGENDA?
Abhinav Bindra : The Asian Games in Busan , Korea

jay : Tell us about your background Mr Bindra
Abhinav Bindra : Well I am 19 yrs old, started shooting 5 years ago. My grand father was in the army and since my childhood there were guns in the house so i have always been attracted to them. This motivated me to get into competitive shooting and when i moved to Chandigarh i was intoduced to a coach Col. Dhillon & basicaly got into the sport then.

anjali_desai : Hi Abhinav! Congratulations!!!! How do u feel ?
Abhinav Bindra : feel great and proud

Arun : What extra effort you are going to put for asiad?
Abhinav Bindra : i will work hard on my technique and work in a way so that i can peak at the asian games.

varini : how difficult will be the competition in asiad as compared to commonwealth games, can india really repeat its performance in asiad
Abhinav Bindra : the asian games will be much tougher. If i can shoot to my full potential i will do well

Anjali : Hi Abhinav, What went wrong in the 10 metre Air Rifle Singles event, where u lost to a Bangladeshi. This event seems to be your favrourite as you hold the junior world record for it?
Abhinav Bindra : good question. I was not in form on that day..and things were very close. i had a bad last shot which cost me gold by half a point...thats the way its sometiomes -one day the luck is with u and on another things dont go yr way

rams : We do well in commonwealth but in asiad /olympics we do not...why
Abhinav Bindra : i would say we did well in the last olympics . i was 11th and was the youngest participant & 11th at the olympics was good. hopefully next time we can go furthur.

Magee : Abhinav, what will you tell about lack of competetiveness in the game, the biggies werent there
Abhinav Bindra : well the best in the commonwealth countries were there.

rana : Dear Abhi, we are all proud of you. We have decided to start a Abhinav fan club.
Abhinav Bindra : thanks very much

Arijit : Congratulations on your excellent performance. But tell me frankly why success in such events are not converted into olympic golds,tougher competition or just lack of temperament or both.
Abhinav Bindra : yes the olympics is different thing. also its the olympics. but if ican shoot to my full potential i will do well.

siddhan : Hi Abhi really India proud of you, pls workhard for getting gold in Olympics.
Abhinav Bindra : thanx i will work hard

Vrushal : Abhinav i liked your approach of concentrating & participating in fewer events. But at the same time i would like to know as to do foriegn shooters also do the same?
Abhinav Bindra : a few shooters do that. I am in the sport for only 5 yrs so thats not long. that has helped me get success quicker..but i will do a few more evnts soon

rams : do we hve strong association to back the sport in india..as we good shooters now like u ,jaspal rana..how well it is recognised
Abhinav Bindra : things r getting better and r acheivemnts r being recognised

LetMeIn : Looking at the infrastructure of the game.... do u think they can be more shooters like u ????????
Abhinav Bindra : the infrastructure has improved. we have a top range in delhi now. hopefully it will be matained and will last us along time

Anjali : Abhinav, Why none of the Indian shooters are there in the top ten of the ISSF World Ranking system?
Abhinav Bindra : i was there a couple of months ago as 8th but i unfortunately could not do well at the world championships so that cost me many points. i will strive to improve on that next year.

Fan : ARE YOU READY FOR THE COMING ASIAN GAMES
Abhinav Bindra : will prepare hard fo them in this coming month and hopefully will be all set to do well there

Vibha : Abhinav do you think that the govtshouldgivemore encouragement Shooting and other sportslikemaybeathletics?
Abhinav Bindra : the govt has done a good job over the last year. yes and they should pay attention to all olympic disciplines

faisalsharief : On count of 1to10 how netsaavy are u?
Abhinav Bindra : 7

Vibha : Abhinav often its seen that Indain sportsmenhave good show in Asiad, Commonwealth and other suchsporting events..why is that we have such poor show inolympics? What do we lack?
Abhinav Bindra : this was the best ever performance. there are many factors why we have not done well in the past but hopefully we will be able to do well at the coming asian and olympic games.

Indian : Abhinav, Which is your favrourite event? 10 m air rifle?
Abhinav Bindra : i am only shooting one event which is the 10m airrfle

ProudIndian : what sort of training do you do? is it just shooting at the target or the mental approach as well?
Abhinav Bindra : yes it is a combination of mental physical and technical training. everything has a role to play in a top performance

siddhan : What do you think about some indians had taken drugs while on the sports and lost their medals?
Abhinav Bindra : very unfortunate

sss : Do u think u can compete or win a medal at the highest level i.e Asiad or Olympics
Abhinav Bindra : yes i believe i can

Abhinav Bindra : the level of competition at the asian games in shooting is much higher. but if we can shoot good scores we will do fine

fengshui : When will the INdian team rank 3rd in the asian games?
Abhinav Bindra : may be in 2010

Naveen : You should have asked the Sports minister for additional facilities when you were on the stage with here on StarNews
Abhinav Bindra : we have asked the govt for a few things and they are taking good amt of interest to get things right

Mohana : How many hours a day do you practice?
Abhinav Bindra : 5 to 6

Anjali : Do you think you will be able to win medal at the asian games as China has two shooter in 10m air rifle who are in top 3 in world rankings?
Abhinav Bindra : if i can shoot to my full potential i will get a good rank

Abhinav Bindra : equalling and then breaking the world record. my parents have been my inspiration

Abhinav Bindra : i am training systematically for the next olympics but before that i have many other events. The govt should provide a foreign coach for the shooting team. the corporate sector should sponsor othe sports and not just cricket

Abhinav Bindra : great specially because it was India's first

Abhinav Bindra : well hopefully not ..i have also my dreams and aspirations and i will make every effort to make them real.

Abhinav Bindra : not really but to reach the top u need proper guidance

sonia : U r an overnight celebrity how do u feel?
Abhinav Bindra : i feel just the same

gautamsrinivasan : in your opinion what should be done to encourage youngster's to take up sports other than cricket ?
Abhinav Bindra : more incentives so that there is more security and there should be a better sports culture in india

Abhinav Bindra : we had a Hungarian coach before the 2000 olympics and he was a great great help

rana : Abhi, does it hurt that you don't get the recognition cricketers get?
Abhinav Bindra : no its ok...

Abhinav Bindra : i can only win one at the asian games cos i compete in only one event

Abhinav Bindra : the media has a role to play and also if it can be started in schools it will help.

Abhinav Bindra : there r tests in random even before the event.

Abhinav Bindra : to be olympic champ & i beleive my hard work and training would count in tough siuations

Abhinav Bindra : its a very expensive sport.may be there is a rifle association in yr state and they can help u with equipment and rifles

Abhinav Bindra : would be great to get the games to india and it would help to build a sports culture in india
