Churchill take full points from opener

Zee Churchill Brothers of Goa defeated JCT Mills, Phagwara, 2-1 in a National Football League match at the Guru Nanak stadium in Jalandhar on Thursday.

The visitors led 1-0 at half-time through a goal by Osumanu Hussen in the 39th minute. Hussen scored with a header after the ball had rebounded off the upright.

JCT restored parity in the 60th minute from a direct kick by Hardip Gill.

The Goa champions, who played with four recruits from Ghana - Edward Ansah, Osumanu Hussen, Yusuf Yakub and Abdul Ganiuu Saley - called the shots right through and got the match-winner in the 75th minute, when Yusuf Yakub connected into goal a pass by Tajinder Kumar from the right corner.

In their next match, on December 16, Zee Churchill take on Punjab Police in Jalandhar.
