Pak shelling kills soldier in Kargil

An Indian soldier was killed and another injured when Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked mortar shelling and indiscriminate firing in Kargil sector from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

Official sources said the Indian troops retaliated, but casualties on the other side were not known.

Ironically, the firing came at a time when Prime Minister I K Gujral was meeting his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharief in New York to iron out difficulties between the two countries.

Earlier on April 4, two civilians were killed and seven injured in Pak firing in the same area.
