Naxals blast AP railway station

The outlawed People's War Group Naxalites blasted the Chityal railway station in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday morning, causing extensive damage to signalling and communication equipment.

The police said the incident was a prelude to the Nalgonda district strike called by the PWG on October 15 to protest against "false encounters".

Four members of the Rachakonda dalam came to the station around 0430 hours and forced the assistant station master and one of his colleagues to come out of the building before blasting it with detonators.
