The Death of a Leader

On Sunday afternoon, India lost another young and promising leader. Madhavrao Scindia, senior Congress leader and the scion of the royal family of Gwalior, was on his way to Kanpur to address a party rally, when his 10-seater Cessna C-90 aircraft crashed around 85 km from Agra. Accompanying him were journalists from The Indian Express and the Hindustan Times newspapers and Aaj Tak, a television news channel. None of them survived.

The untimely death of a leader, who never faced defeat in nine general elections, has stunned the nation. Condolences are pouring in. From the President to his political rivals, everyone is unanimous that politics in India has suffered an irreparable loss.
