Five Naxals killed in AP

Five Naxalites of the outlawed People's War Group were shot dead in three separate incidents while a former sarpanch was killed by the extremists in Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours.

The police said that five armed Naxals of the Joganna Dalam went to the house of the victim in Arpally village, called him out and shot him dead on Tuesday night. The extremists beat up his wife and two others who intervened.

One Naxalite, identified as Jala Raji Reddy alias Saianna, was shot dead by the police in an alleged encounter in Veeranarayanpur village in Elkathurti mandal on Tuesday night.

In the second encounter at Nagulagandi in Koheda mandal, Gajji Sampath alias Madhu was shot dead by the police on Tuesday evening.

The bodies of three unidentified Naxalites were found by the police on Tuesday at Machupeta village, close to the spot where a landmine blast was set off by the PWG on Sunday last, injuring 14 policemen.

Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter on Monday night, the police said.
