Naxalites kill cop

Naxalites of the outlawed People's War Group on Wednesday night shot dead a police constable and injured another constable at Alair town in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh.

Police said on Thursday that the extremists opened fire on four constables when they came out of a hotel. While constable Lakshminarayana died on the spot, constable Yadagiri was seriously injured. The other two constables escaped unhurt.

Yadagiri was admitted to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad for treatment.
