Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy [ Images ] has been killed in a helicopter crash in the dense Nallamalla forest, authorities confirmed on Thursday morning.

The news of YSR's death has plunged the state into mourning, as stunned supporters poured out into the streets to express their grief.  

The charismatic Congress leader had beaten anti-incumbency to ride back to power in the 2009 assembly polls. The chief minister's welfare schemes had made him immensely popular and the 'YSR factor' was widely credited for the party's stupendous performance in the assembly and Lok Sabha polls in AP.
