Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who is undergoing treatment for weakness and fever at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai has been shifted to a special room from the Intensive Care Unit and is likely to be discharged by Friday, doctors attending on him said on Wednesday.

"Thackeray is doing fine but will be discharged after one or two days," Dr Narendra Trivedi, vice-president and hospital spokesperson told PTI in Mumbai.

As Thackeray was weak even after recovering from fever, he had to be kept in the ICU for complete rest.

Now he is doing fine and meeting friends and relatives, Trivedi said. The Sena chief also interacted with several political leaders such as Sharad Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal besides his own party-men during the last four days, he added.

The 82-year-old Sena patriarch was admitted to Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra on February 26 after he complained of fever and weakness.
