Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, who is undergoing treatment for weakness and fever is doing fine but will have to rest in hospital for atleast two more days, doctors attending on him said on Monday.

Since Thackeray is still weak, he would be kept in the Intensive Care Unit for two more days, doctors told PTI in Mumbai. The decision on granting discharge to the Sena leader was to be taken on Monday.

Dr Narendra Trivedi, vice-president and spokesperson, Lilavati Hospital, said that Thackeray has recovered and has had a normal diet since Saturday. He was also interacting with his family members and met party leaders including son and executive president Uddhav Thackeray and discussed the forthcoming elections, Trivedi said.

The 82-year-old Sena patriarch was admitted to Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra on February 26 after he complained of fever and weakness. Meanwhile, in an editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana Thackeray said that he was feeling well "but doctors do not agree." "Staying in hospital's ICU is like staying in Anda cell (solitary confinement)," the editorial said.
