The Congress on Wednesday termed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leadership's decision to project two new persons for the post of chief minister as their own, saying that the party would not initiate any step to form a new government in Jharkhand, which is under President's Rule.

"Our working committee recently resolved not to initiate the formation of a new government. The JMM's decision to project two new names is taken on their own and let them talk to the central United Progressive Alliance leadership," Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Alok Dubey told PTI.

PCC would abide by the high command's direction on the matter, he added. The Jharkhand unit of the Rashtryia Janata Dal has already said it would not make effort to form the government in Jharkhand.

"Like Congress, we will not take initiatives to form government in the current house. We are ready for elections," senior RJD leader and former minister Girinath Singh said on Tuesday.

Shibu Soren's JMM has made a fresh bid at government formation, deciding to place the names of party MLAs -- Salkhan Soren and Nalin Soren -- before the central UPA leadership to choose one of them.

Soren had said on Tuesday night that "Champai Soren's name as my successor to chief minister's post was rejected. Now, JMM legislature party has decided to ask UPA leadership to choose between Nalin Soren and Salkhan Soren for the post."

The JMM supremo said a party delegation would visit Delhi to put forth the latest names before UPA leaders Sonia Gandhi and Lalu Prasad some time after February 5.
