Shiv Sena leader and former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi on Sunday night gave an ultimatum to the Bharatiya Janata Party to mend its ways with regard to the on going border issue and stop atrocities on Marathi speaking people in Belgaum.
Joshi said that Shiv Sena has taken the matter of sufferings of Marathi speaking people in Belgaum seriously. Any atrocities on Marathi speaking people will not be tolerated, he added.
A delegation comprising Shiv Sena Members of Legislative Assembly and Members of Parliament would meet the top leaders of the BJP in Delhi this week and impress upon them the seriousness of the issue, he said.
He said that it is high time the BJP realises the sensitiveness of the issue and takes matters seriously.
The BJP leadership at Delhi should ask the Karnataka government to stop the atrocities on Marathi-speaking people, Joshi said.
He said, "We will meet L K Advani and express our views and ask the BJP to keep low on the issue."
At least till the decision of the Supreme Court comes the BJP should keep the issue in abeyance, he said. The delegation would communicate the same to the BJP leadership, he added.
"If they listen and act it is okay and if they do not, then we will have our own way about the alliance," Joshi declared.
