MDMK chief Vaiko today charged the UPA Government with helping Sri Lanka by giving arms, which enabled that country's army to capture the "deserted" Kilinochi and said the LTTE will win the war ultimately.
"At least now, we should realise that the Indian Government hasn't done anything for the Sri Lankan Tamils. India has been supplying arms which helped the Lankan Government capture Killinochi," Vaiko, an ally of opposition AIADMK told reporters at Tirumangalam during assembly bypoll campaign.
On the capture of Killinochi by Lankan Army, he said LTTE men had "strategically" withdrawn and the people there had gone into hiding. The town wore a deserted look.
"This is only a temporary victory for the Lankan government. They can't defeat them permanently. They would strike back like their earlier operations."
"I am confident that they (LTTE) will win the war ultimately."
He alleged that the Sri Lankan Army was trying to eliminate the Tamil race and that the Sri Lankan President was "tyrannical".
